PC Power & Cooling
What are your guys views on the PC Power & Cooling PSU's, even though they are owned by OCZ now?
specifically the Silencer series.

I'm pleased to see that OCZ has bumped their warranty up to 7 years in order to demonstrate their commitment to quality, but there are more than enough known quality PSUs these days out there for me to avoid the OCZ units until somebody shows me otherwise.

OCZ just had too many pieces of poop with their PSU logo attached to it for me to jump on the new PC P&C bandwagon. (Keep in mind that my first "Quality" PSU was an early 520W OCZ Modstream unit that finally gave up the ghost at the end of last year after damn near 10 years of abuse.... ;) ). As of late, there are MANY surprises out there when looking for a PSU. For a random example, there are ALOT of Corsair Builder series failures and I don't deny OCZ is utter crap. PC P&C seems to be getting positive reviews from Johnny Guru, but that is not to say they are what they used to be.

When in doubt, Seasonic is the way to go, no matter what anyone says.

found this statement
If you're looking at PC Power & Cooling, I'd consider this one instead.

It's one of the original Silencer units (it's a SeaSonic S12D).

The Mk.II units are rebranded OCZ Z Series PSUs being pushed out under (and tarnishing a bit) the PC Power & Cooling name.

I've had two 750W silencers, and still have a red one I bought used sitting on the shelf waiting for a good home. In the old days... PC P&C was the pinacle of PSUs for geeks with too much money, and a desire for the best they could get their hands on.

There is nothing wrong a PC power PSU, but I'd go for a 80+ Gold, not only are they more efficient but are often a higher quality. There are many good brands, Corsair, seasonic, PC Power, XFX(made by seasonic), thermaltake, Enermax, etc

old yes, new ones are "high end" OCZ's rebadged. The old ones were the best of the best, now they are just a label to cover up a brands tarnished name.

You can have my Silencer 750W when you pry it from my cold dead computer case :thumb:
