Corsair AX850

Hi All,

I am building a new Z77 computer build, planning to OC the I5 ivy Bridge processor as well as running dual GTX 580 in SLI.

Will the Corsair AX850 suffice?

thats like asking if a ferarri is fast enough, the Corsair AX series is one of the best on the market.

you can also go down one model to the ax750 and still have enough juice.

I wouldn't do that. I have the AX850 and it is connected to a UPS. If I put a full load on my machine the UPS shows that it is using just shy of 800W. Now this is with OC'd SLI 580s and my i7@4.8GHz. I know this is not exact and everything but it does show that while the AX850 is capable of doing it, it does get close to the limit of it. Because of that I would not move down to the AX750 as that would be right at the limit and possibly over. I'd say better to leave a little bit of room.

I agree, the psu is one component that came go from build to build to build. I usually wait to see a good sale on a psu that has a higher output than I need then buy it for future proofing. Gpu's can use a lot of wattage.

wow, that's actually news to me. my friend and i are both running ax750's in our rigs except im only on 1 580 while he's sli but it hasn't given him any power issues. although he's not ocing anything to warrant extra power draw. i will let him know, thanks ipaine :)

I just purchased an AX850 myself. I figured go big or go home. This is super efficient and should leave room for the future.

I have an SC'd EVGA card (Single) and an i5 1155. Full Gaming load from APC is 296W. These new processors are very power effective. I think he will be more than fine and pulling about 500 from the wall which is perfect.
