Default Antec Truepower Quattro 1000W Review Comment Thread

Antec's Quattro series was launched a few months ago and this one has been sitting on the back burner for quite a while. Well, the review is up and this is one heck of a power supply at a more than fair price.

You can read the review here:

Anyone else find it odd that they would use a single 80mm fan on a 1000W PSU when most smaller PSUs come standard with 120mm ones now? Even my old cheap $50 generic PSU had TWO 80mm fans. Looks like more Antec quality cost-cutting

Is the fan in a suck or blow configuration? Due to its position, I can't imagine it's be blowing since it'd be sending hot air inside the case. So I'm guessing that it's sucking air from the inside to outside, which is usually weaker than blowing.

If you have an efficient PSU then less output is lost to heat which means a cooler running power supply. Don't think this is an issue of cost cutting at all but rather a design move by Enhance. Most of the hotter running components are placed almost right next to the exhaust fan which means they will get most than enough cooling.

The Antecs aren't only PSU with an offset clip- I did read somewhere that there are 6 pin adapters for the power cables for compatibility with the 9800GTX- does anyone know if this is somthing that NVidia will supply with the cards, or will the PSU producers distribute them.

I which PSU maker payed NVidia to make off center clips incompatible (oops..there I go with my paranoia again :-)
