I'm fine w/ it ... It's in my living room, not my bedroom. As long as it's quiet and provides stable power, I'm fine.

My Antec Earthwatts 500W drops like crazy on the 12V (Down to 11.28V according to motherboard sensors under stress) when I overclock my G80 8800 GTS substantially.

Cool fan speed

ok i bought this power supply over a month ago. I installed it in a nzxt temptest case where is is upside down in the bottom (the fan is on top). It seems like the fan does not blow at all and I think its due to heat rising up and the fact that the fan is on the top blowing down and not the bottom blowing up.

I see on page 6 at the bottom of the review where you are looking at the capacitors and the fan headers.

"There is also an adjustable POT here which seems to control the rotational speed of the fan. "

which item in the picture is this. That funky thing sticking upward or the little circle with the plus to the left side of the picture. Whichway can i adjust this POT to make my fan speed up so this power supply doesnt get so hot?

Good deal ?
I picked up the 800w about 2 months ago for $124 free shipping at the egg, been rock solid since.

Of course now that I said that the thing will up and die on me.

All the lights do suck though, but the case for your spare connecters is handy.

The way the PSU is oriented in the Case will not really effect this. And, the fan is sucking in air, not blowing it up. It will only start to really work hard when the PSU gets hot, so if its not blowing a lot of air out the back then you are okay. The adjustable fan option is cool, but I usually like letting the PSU's Thermostatic control worry about it.

I think, its a cool looking device. But, I'm an ULtra Man, much like people here are Corsair Fans so, I'll stick to what I know best. Until they start failing, I won't worry.

Good Review,

ST

Default temperatures

Well since getting to that adjuster is going to void warranty i decided to try one last thing. I ordered 2 120mm 80CFM intake fans to replace the 2 33CFM fans on the front of my case currently. I think if i flush more air in there that fan on the power supply will work better.
If not then its time to pry my power supply open!
Everything is cool except this Tagan BZ900 power supply and i doubt that I'm using even 500w. The fans are not blowing out much air. I will post my results later this week. fans come in 3 days.

For Reference
Setup: NZXT Temptest Case, Asus P6T Deluxe, Core i7 920 2.66 @ 3.60, Corsair XMS3 1600 MHz 2GB x 3, Asus EN9600 video, 2 x WD Cavair 750GB Raid0, Tagan BZ900 900W power.

Running Temperatures:
Room 22C
CPU 30C (36C, 34C, 37C, 33C) - 60C load (71C, 68C, 70C, 65C)
GPU 38C - 50C load
MB 30C
NB 29C
HDD 28C (estimated these are supercooled but raid has no SMART)

i will have to find a way to test the temperatures of the PSU. any suggestions??
