Same story. Those no name $20 units are more liable to kill something off in your computer or die themselves then give you power.

Antec Basiq or Earthwatts should be cheap enough for obviously whatever it is you are doing. Go with one of them.

I wouldn't go for much else from newegg.
You have to invest in a good PSU or you might as well just throw whatever money you have down the drain for the rest of your hardware.
Even I sacrificed and got 460's for my rig instead of 470's so I could afford a proper PSU and not something cheap.

Its the cornerstone of your system, don't cheap out on it.

You have a host of good options at that wattage level. Antec Green's are very good for the price.

Have you considered buying from a different place? NCIX and memoryexpress are both very good IMO. You can also price match at both of those places so that you get the lower prices that you find elsewhere (NCIX beats by 10% of the difference and memory express its 25%). Not to mention prices are often lower to start. For example at NCIX they have the 500w antec earthwatts green that was mentioned above for $55 vice $81 at newegg. That sale ends today though...there is usually a quality 500w psu on sale nearly every week though. There is nothing wrong with newegg and I have bought there before, but they are not always the best, since there is no price match.

Yup both the earthwatts and cx500 are nice budget psu's put both of them in a few builds for buddies. Never used a gs500 so cant comment.

And Yeah ST is correct,
$1500 on new board/ram/cpu/gfx
$400 for a new monitor
Look on someones face when their POS PSU blows and takes the system: Priceless.
