Default Need to silence down AX1200
Hey guys, I just got my AX1200 today, and I noticed that it's quite loud..
Would any of you recommend any fan to replace the AX1200 Fan?
Voiding the warranty wont worry me so much, as long as it's dead silent.
Cuz I'm using a fully water cooled system, and I use lots of push pull silent fans on lower rpm, so the only thing that I can hear very very clearly right now is my power supply.. x_x

What exactally do you have running that is forcing the Fan to be anything but quiet on that PSU? I've seen those things be dead silent at 900W load.

Everything on my rig there, and it's on idle... that's why I want to silence it down... I can clearly hear a high pitch fan noise from the PSU (I tried turning off all other fans for 1 min)

That PSU should not be making that much fan noise when your comp is at idle. I have read nothing but good things about being quiet from that line of PSU. Maybe you have a bad one? RMA/return and option?

A super high pitch hum could very well be coil whine rather than the fan.

Yuppers, that unit is almost (or can operated in) fanless mode under 25 degrees or 250W.
I think you might have one that has wine, and not a noisy fan.

RMA it if it bugs you that much.

I just sent an email to the store where I bought it asking on the return procedure, It's going to be a bit hard for me if I need to send it back to corsair myself, as I live in australia..
Not being able to use my pc because I'm waiting for the return would be a pain as well..

Hmm.. so does that mean every other AX1200 will be just the same? I can hear a different lower pitch hum though

IT can happen to almost any supply unfortunately. No matter the brand. If you do some research you will see that.

Sometimes you will get one noisy one out of 1000 but sometimes you go through 2-3 before you do.

Coil whine is a known issue with that psu. RMA time.

=/ I might swap it over to a Seasonic 1000W platinum

I just checked out an AX1200 coil whine video on utube, and mine isn't like that..
Mine sounds like as if the center of the fan is touching a thin piece of paper.. that kind of high pitch
