Getting sick of Quattro 850
Firstly I had an Antec Quattro 850 that blew up with blue lightings bursting out the back of the PSU. This made me have also two refurbished GTX570 instead of two brand new since they fried up and this was the replacement.
Now my PSU is doing a really annying, headache-giving, buzzing noise form times to times. I always trusted Antec PSU but now I am getting tired of this particular.
Am I just REALLY unlucky or should I use another brand? See "My specs" link in the post header to know what I run with it.
Might honestly be just a bad PSU platform on that particular model mate. Antec actually does really well with using both Delta and Seasonic for its Platforms.
Yours however I guess is just unlucky (which can happen to any PSU platform).
If you want a break from it get something like a Silverstone Strider 850W Plus (they use Enhance) or a HX850 from Corsair (CWT on this one).
Both are good units,
seasonic FTW imho
Ironically looking up older reviews for this unit, its a very good Enhance platform. I am thinking you just got really unlucky. Which , sucks when we invest so much in good PSU's.
Grab what Gingerbee has said or what I have said and hopefully you'll have better luck.
If you are still having issues perhaps you should conisder a line conditioner for your house as well.
Thanks everyone for the suggestion. I do feel I have just been really unlucky.
New developement: Antec just replied me and they would be replacing the Quattro 850 with a HCP 850 because Quattros are discontinued. They also offer HCG 900 and CP 1000. What should I get? (Note : I don't really need 1000w)
Get the High Current Gamer. They are pretty damn good units too.
Nice of Antec to replace it with something of equal quality.
I honestly think its just something to be chalked up to bad luck considering that platform is very solid.
Very nice of Antec to be offering such good replacements.
The last two posts (thanks by the way) reflects what I read from reviews. In goes either way.
I am currently aiming more at the HCP one mainly because of the partial modular and also because I've read somewhere that it is a kind-of "Signature series 2".
Does someone have a clear comparison between the two series?
Talk about getting everything easier ! :haha:
This confirms, for me, that the pro should be the chosen one (please, no reference to Kung Pow).
All that remains is to get a deal with the local store to keep their warranty and to make sure I don't loose my computer for another 2 weeks ... since I just got D3 Beta (ok NOW you can hate me! :bleh:)
