2 x 8pin EPS Buying an EVGA classified 200 mobo with 2 x 8pin EPS connectors on the board. Wondering which power supplies have that. Or would it hurt any to use one of these with say ... an HX1000 with this adapter. Newegg.com - Athena Power 6" EPS-12V 8-pin Y-splitter Power Cable Model CABLE-YEPS828 I do plan on pushing my chip pretty hard. |
Just because the motherboard has 2 8-pins, doesn't mean it is a requirement. The board will still run just fine w/ the single connector. |
I think it would/show work fine with that adapter seeing what power supply it is |
I don't think splitting 1 EPS12V into 2 is going to give you any additional benefits over using a single EPS12V. I believe most of the 1kW+ PSUs have dual EPS connectors. Like the Corsair AX1200/HX1050, Enermax Revolution/Galaxy, or Antec TPQ/HCP. They all cost around $300 though, but better to have a solid PSU if you're truly going to be pushing things. |

I was using my old Ultra x3 1000w with 1 8pin, and 1 4pin using a 4-8 pin adapter with no issues. That being said, I upgraded to the OCZ Z-850M gold rated PSU, which runs 70W more efficiently under load compared to the Ultra, and also much cooler and quieter. Its a great PSU! |
The silverstone strider gold has 2 ...850w and up..cant coment on the lower watt models |
The Corsair AX750 also has 2. |
XFX 750s have em |
The SilverStone SST-ST1500 (1500W) has two. |
