Default CM Extreme Power 600W enough for 5870? or Recommendations

Hey HWC,

I was wondering if my 3 year old CM Extreme Power 600W is enough for an overclocked 5870.

It's going in my Budget Gaming II system in my sig in place of the 9600GT.

If not, are these PSU's ok for my purposes?

NCIX.com - Buy Seasonic S12II 620W EPS12V 20/24PIN ATX Power Supply Active PFC 80+ Bronze 6+8PIN PCI-E W/ 120MM Fan - Seasonic Electronics - S12II 620 - in Canada
NCIX.com - Buy Antec Earthwatts Green 650W Power Supply ATX12V V2.2 EPS12V Active PFC 80PLUS 120MM Fan - Antec - EA650Green - in Canada
NCIX.com - Buy Seasonic M12II 620W EPS12V 20/24PIN ATX Power Supply PFC 80+ Bronze Modular 6PIN PCI-E 120MM Fan - Seasonic Electronics - M12II 620 - in Canada

All of these PSU's are in the $70-80 range. Which one should I get?

Thanks in advance!

Yes it would power that rig, but it is a couple years old and not a great PSU. So really its your call. You could run it on that supply for a long time with no problem, or it may fail. If you are replacing it then any of the PSU you listed will be just fine. The only difference between the M and S seasonic is a few cables are modular, but most of which you will have to plug in to run your rig....there for my suggestion goes to the s12II and save a few bucks.

EDIT: I have a 2 year old s12II500w in my computer and I have put a M12II520w it my brothers rig and neither has had any problem at all. Both are very quiet and work as advertised.

I completely forgot something, the fan on the Extreme power is kinda wonky. Ir works, but it seems to bang on the grill once in a while and doesn't power up until it gets really hot...

What i'm worried the most is that the CM psu doesn't have enough amps to run the 5870. The extreme power has the rated output of 36A, but I read online that the 5870 needs 40A...

I can get the Seasonic PSU's for around the same price.

With modular PSUs, is there anything particularly bad about them? IE: power leakage from connectors???
