Default 460GTX superclocked...500W OCZ enough?

A friend is going to sell me a evga 460gtx superclocked, and I was just curious if I have to upgrade my psu, which currently is a OCZ modular 500W?

System is:

Intel Q6600 Overclocked Quad Core 3.0Ghz /w direct heatpipe contact stack cooler
MSI p43-c51 motherboard
8GB DDR3, 500GB hard drive

theoretically your modxteam should be fine, but then again i would look into something better.

like an earthwatts 500 .

gpu will pull maybe 175 watts if you push it hard, but more like 125-135 at stock.

the rest of the system maybe another 200 watts. 250 tops, unless you go crazy on the juice.

You should be fine but I agree with dan... ditch the OCZ and get a better one if you can. I've had 2 OCZ's crap out on me recently and will never buy another one... stick with Antec or Corsair.

How old is that PSU? IIRC, the decent OCZ PSUs were 520W vice 500W. Personally, I'd replace it for any build other than a standard low power GPU/integrated general purpose build.

IMO you can run it, but the longevity of the PSU may become a factor. From what I recall the Q6600 uses a decent amount of power and OCZ PSU are fine for basic builds, but I wouldn't push them hard continuously.

What is your current GPU?
