Need help to chose PSU!
Hello , i've been across those 2 PSU that looks more than right to me. Corsair HX1000w 80 plus And Silverstone Strider 1000w 80 plus gold. which of both is the best? Ive read some customer reviews that the Corsair HX1000 have higher failure rate. Any other suggestion are appreciated! Thanks all. P.S : I'd like to add that the power supply is gonna feed a core i7 950 , 6gb DDR3 memory , High end Motherboard , Paired with 2 GTX 480.

I'm happy with cooler master Silent Pro M 1000W only bitch is the cables are all same colors, hard to separate pci-e and ev12 plugs for both aren't the same

other sound is very low, hardly hear psu fan

Both the Strider and HX are solid...Corsair has excellent Support Forum. Personally I was running 3 x 280's and later 2 x 480's with my old HX 1kW....didn't break a sweat ;)

I'm hoping seasonics a great brand as I just bought one but have yet to test it, corsair is pretty solid as well I've been running one for quite awhile and it holds up great.

first of all, welcome aboard man.

secondly, either or of the major known good brands are fine. seasonic built, enermax, etc. sometimes its better to have a bit of headroom. also, getting a modular 850 at the price of a 650 during the holidays is quite cool.

I personally have an HX1000 and it has been doing the job with no problems (i7@4ghz, Classy MB, 5870) no problems at all and I have a large amount of headroom. Corsair also has great support.

If that will be your max setup, you can go for a Seasonic X-850 that will be quiet and reliable as hell.
If you want some headroom, take the corsair AX1200. It's expensive, but with PSUs I say go for the best and pay more for reliability and stability.

Just picked up the strider gold 1000w for a pair of used of 480's (thanks rJ)...plan on watercooling them. Judging by the reviews for the 850w variant of the strider gold, it seems like a pretty good deal. The ANTEC high current pro looks to be the best right now in the 1000w+ range but I could be wrong. The only thing that put me off the corsair AX1200w (another great line of psus) was that I'm not planning on 3 cards so the price premium wasn't worth it in my mind. I miss the pc-power and cooling units of old.
