Screetch

yup. my apc unit that holds the modems+routers up and going if power goes down started screetching, flashing, and clicking really badly.just now.

i havent seen the power flicker in the house, my other units are fine. i had to reset it several times by holding the on button, and hitting the reset switch in order for it to make it stop.

the batteries are fine,it seems. checked that since the last time i had a beep/screetch from my apcs was due to battery faillure.

trying to look up a manual.its one of those floor,350va(?),small units. part number to come, looks like this : NCIX.com - Buy APC BACK-UPS ES 350VA 200W UPS 6 Outlet 365J RJ-11 Protection *Without Auto Shutdown Software* - BE350G In Canada.

probably the older model.

edit : its doing it again. as soon as i unhook it from the wall it starts beeping and discharging normally.

mode # : be325r-cn

so its screetching like maybe battery is low, but the battery is good.

i've had some old ES 350's go off into the weeds like that. Battery replacement didn't help, the electronics circuitry must have failed. Other than the battery there is nothing in those things a user can service, I would replace it if it were mine.

cool. besides letting it sit batteryless overnight,or such,or replacing would you consider any other option?

really liek this one, its quite slim. other models out there are a bit shorter, but fatter. need it to fit in a tight place :)

uhh, dont these things have fans on them for a reason? they would overheat in a tight space.

yes i have one sucking(or pushing) air from modems, routers,it as well. cooling is no problem. probably time to replace but i cant find a slim one,and cheap lol
