thanks dangtx and others,

I don't suppose you have any thoughts on my "bonus" issues? I'm running the newest BIOS, and will try reversing the master slave thing.

sorry, im blind. you need to put them master slave,slave slave. cable select, play with those

yes, look whats under there. single slot 8800gt's at full load can go around 100c or so. or yank stock fan out zip tie a bigger one on, or bracket a 120 close by.

go to any auto supply an ask for a bosch horn relay (p/n#:0 332 019 110)

and socket for SAFETY to keep power insolated from shorting out causing loss of property/life

15amp MAX fuse circuit to protect home and love ones

and use correct wire gauge 14 (for 15amp AC load )

good brands stick to good designs, components and usually what they write on the side is done by the unit.

crap brands can write 1500 watts ion the side but the poor bugger is actually a poorly made 600 watts unit that should never ever seen the light of night.

Why 99% of Power Supply Reviews Are Wrong | Hardware Secrets
...right after I post my question - very enlightening.
These guys know how to test PSUs. (Test for noise and ripple, and put the thing under load)
They tested a cheap 500W generic that died when they tried to pull 250W.
