4pin ATX12v and 8pin EPS connector

I've been using the 4pin ATx12vconnector on my old GameXstream 600w on the ASUS P5KE MB.

In the MB manual it says you plug either a 4pin ATX12v OR an 8pin EPS. You have to remove a cap for the EPS.

Could I damage the MB leaving the 4pin ATX powering it rather than the EPS despite what the manual says? It seems stable enough.

Havent installed my new psu yet.

4pin is perfectly fine if you aren't overclocking or demanding much from your system. If you are overclocking or plan to overclocking using the 8pin EPS will give you (from what I've read) better and more steady voltage.

Ive already overclocked a little bit At 400FSB and cpu@3.2.

Seems steady as a rock but i dont want to melt the connector into the MB or anything?

I better try and work out if that 4pin cpu2 can be used as an EPS with the cpu1 ATX4pin12v.

My stance is that if the mobo has it, you should use it. Use the 8-pin but using a 4-pin won't cause any damage.

I think that cpu2+cpu1 connectors=1 EPS connector on the gamexstream. Ill give it a go anyway.

Pretty sure that's what it's for. No other point in it otherwise.

Yea it doesnt make that much sense. CPU2 It is the rest of the EPS. Initially I thought it was for a second cpu on a dualsocket board...shoudl have readup a bit more

Anyway Im going to leave it for now till i install the new silencer psu at christmas. The sythe ninja heatsink has totally blocked the socket-looks cool though.
