My System Specs

Default Another UPS Thread...

However my needs are a bit different. I only need around 100-150W out of it, and really just long enough so that my server can shutdown properly. Seems to really hate having the power die on it as it won't start up afterwards (I have the BIOS to always power on). It gets stuck in a constant loop of power on/off. And once I manually power it up, then the drives need to re-sync since I use Windows RAID1.

Also is it possible for it to detect and boot up once the power is restored? I'm guessing not, but that would be nice if it was possible. I guess another option would be to have the machine go to sleep rather than shutdown, then have it wake up when power is restored? Not sure if that's possible either though.

So looking for like 10 minutes (or more depending on price) runtime and something of decent quality but under $100? I think it should be feasible...

Never owned a UPS before though, so if there's anything else I need to do, please do educate me

Default Do you have a "Cosco"

NCIX.com - Buy APC BACK-UPS ES 550VA 120V UPS 8 Outlet 365J RJ-11 Protection - BE550G In Canada.

I have two 350 they do ok but I think fore what you want the 550 or higher.

These have a software shut down on them it takes one USB port on the back of the computer.
If you use there software you can ajust the shut doun to your preferances.

Go with one with one with the outlets on the top theyu are newer desines.

Cosco is a cheep place to find them if you or frend have a Cosco card.

$67.79 shipped a good price you think? Dell currently has it on sale. It's of the Canadian version if that matters.

The 550V should give you about 10 minutes of runtime for 200W. So really that is all you should need.

I looked and that one at Dell for $59.99 is most likely the best price you will find. That is for the BE550G-CN. That is what I would get.
