I am not sure that is possible. If I did not rent, I would look into it. Any idea of the cost?

The electrical panel is in the same room, right? You could hire an electrician, but if you want to do it yourself it's maybe 50 bucks worth of supplies.

You live in a basement apartment, does it not have drop ceilings? Could you not hide said extension cord in the ceiling then come down on the tile/area that needs it so you'll only see an extension cable running from the ceiling at one spot rather then the entire hallway?
