This thread is about the AX PSU's and not about other makes or models, if Smoothie creates a thread asking for recommendations, I'll go more in depth.

Mind you I do agree that there are better 1kW models out there at this point, I was merely pointing out that an old design(such as the HX) is not a bad design. While by current standards in that price range at MSRP its not the best choice perhaps, but its by no means a bad PSU or anything near. Again, all I wanted to do was reinforce that just because something is of an older design, outdated and a tad bit less efficent, does not make it bad by any means. The HX1000, while perhaps the no longer one of the best, is still a good, solid, staqble PSU and choice.

As for the AX1200, I think its a overall a very nice design and great PSU, though the ripple on the rails isn't as good as I'd like for the class of PSU's it's suppoto be. Still one of the top contenders IMO.

No, it's certainly not bad, but I wouldn't buy one either.

No offense taken, and if I didn't do it then who would?

^^^ Agreed ;)

I wouldn't purchase another HX now unless the price was extremely good. The AX goes for about $30 more right now then the HX

That ST 1.5 kW was a great deal at $299...back to 395 at NCIX, can still be had for 349 at DC.....

Yep, I'm still kicking around.

Thats too bad about the ST, but still the AX1200 is an awesome unit and you should love it.
