If that's what you meant, np. I've always used the term "Current draw" to mean total, that's all.

The 24-pin ATX connector only has two +12V wires. Those are mainly dedicated to powering PCI-E cards and other motherboard components. Most if not all of the CPU's power requirements are provided by the 4-pin P4 or 8-pin EPS12V connector.

Just pulled up an ATX24 pinout. Damn, you're right. And the old 20-pin only had a single 12V+ line. In which case, I guess there could be a pretty significant difference between 4 and 8 pin. And those motherboards offering dual 8-pin or an extra molex connection don't look quite as stupid any more.
