Would it be possible to get a bigger picture? I would google search it, but I am not sure which PSU it is, only that it is made by Antec.

I'm assuming it's the Quattro, as I have the same looking cables.

If you go a head and do this, any alterations can effect the warranty. You should double check with Antec unless you don't care about the warranty. Just fyi.

You should probably have ~3 years left.

I'm not sure I would try to take it off, unless you don't care about the capacitor feature (haven't seen any testing on whether or not it actually works) and if you don't mind re-soldering any damage you might do.

There are no capacitors there. It is just a thick piece of plastic to terminate the sleeving.

This. Except on the quattro 1200W. Either way I just use a pair of side cutters to rip them off. You just need to be aware that there is a metal ring you need to pull off as well inside.
