Default Need Budget PSU

I've got an old computer that is still running strong for over 5 years 24h/24;

Motherboard: Asus P5ld2
CPU: P4 3.2ghz
RAM: 4gb DDR2 533mhz
6 HDD, 300GB to 1TB
GPU: Asus GeForce 9600GSO (bought like 6-8 month ago)
PSU: 420W Thermaltake

However, I think the psu is about to die... When the computer is idle/load,the psu does the most noise out of my thermaltake viking. I experienced slowdown in video and game when playing for long time. Is the psu working too hard? Is the videocard not getting enough juice?

What would you recommand to replace it ? Is it possible to get one arround 50$?

those tt's are not half bad if not pushed beyong a couple hundred watts on the 12v.

big thumbs up for the sparkle, have some in builds with 8800gt's and more. again, dont push the 12v rail too much and you will be fine.

btw, 45 is a horrible price for it. ive picked up some a long while ago for under 30 bucks.

There is no smells or smoke, and i dont have a replacement to swap it...Its just that i dont remember it to be that noisie. When i stop the psu fan manually the case is near silent ! Is the psu running too hot so the fan keep spinning at high rpm?

How long a psu is supposed to last?I dont know much about effiency but could it be that after 5years its not as solid?

Thanks for the links, i will consider them. If you see any cheaper tell me:)
I dont want to put to much money on this system.

Edit: Alright i will check out sweet deal on these psu. Best direct has it for 38$ it would be awesome with free shipping thought...

I see that the Corsair CMPSU-400CX 400CX 400W ATX 12V 30A Power Supply Active PFC 120MM Fan can go as low as 42$ at canadacomputer. However neither pricebat or pricecanada is up to date with price on this component. I just missed a deal at ncix on it 20$ less till june 1... Does it worth to wait a deal again on the corsair?

The 400CX is a pretty solid unit for the money. $40 is a great price for a basic, no-frills PSU in my opinion, but I guess it depends on your budget.

My budget is arround 50$ and i wish shipping included.

and what about theses at ~30$+shipping?
Coolermaster Elite Power 400W ATX Power Supply 12V V2.3 20/24PIN 120MM Fan
or OCZ StealthXStream OCZ500SXS 500W ATX12V 24PIN Active PFC ATX Power Supply 120MM Fan Black
or Thermaltake TR2 430W Power Supply 20/24PIN ATX12V Dual 80MM Fans
