Default Can I xfire 5770

Hello,

I made a topic awhile ago asking what the best video card I could run on an hx520, and was recommended the 5870. I bought the 5850 instead cuz it was cheaper, but ended up selling it because I stopped playing games. Now I want to set up my computer to play movies on my hdtv through a hdmi connection.

I was thinking of just getting a lower end ati 4xxx card but I'm afraid if a game comes out that I want to play I won't have enough power to, and vice versa for a 5850. So my idea was to get a 5770 or 4890 and if I wanted to game later on I could add a second card and xfire it. But I don't think my psu can handle it but last time I was pleasantly surprised so I'll decided to ask here again.

My current system is e8400 @ 4ghz, 2hdd (probably go down to one once I set up my media server), 2 dvd drives and a few fans. So can I xfire 5770s or 4890 with my hx520?

I don't see a problem with Xfire on 5770's. Lots of headroom even on the 520.

You have enough power for that.

Definitely 5770 xfire will be fine, but maybe pushing it with xfire 4890 in my opinion (I think it would work with 4890s, but I wouldn't push it that far myself).
