Trying to figure out how much electricity my computer uses cause the bill was astronimical this month. Is there something that can record or monitor it for you?
Heres my setup
AMD 965 125w 3.4 overclocked to 3.8 1.4 volts
8 gb crucial ram *4 sticks total*
samsung spinpoint
750 w power supply
3 scythe 3000rpm fans

It will be using under $10 a month easy if you are only using it for a few hours a day.

as far as something to plug in- a kill-a-watt meter, or something of that manner
increased cost is probably likely due to increased heating costs

im thinking maybe 350-400 watts for the rig? maybe less. if the psu is mighty inefficient(above certain loads ;) ) then it could explain it too.

as per above, get yourself a 10-20 dollar killawatt. youll put a power bar on everything and switch it off when not needed. my tv and dvd thing consume 20-25 watts doing nothing(turned off, plugged in still)

Iíve got;
GTX280, Q9550, Coolit Elite (80W ?), 4 HDD, about 7 fans and some lights etc,
it runs about 240W idle and 400+W gaming.
Its been awhile since Iíve even looked at the watt meter, so Iím guessing a bit.

5 hrs @ 400 = 2000whrs
19 hrs @ 240 = 4560 whrs
Total 6560whrs/day (6.56kwh

@0.06 /kwh thatís 0.40 per day, or $12 a month. (hmmm, about 13% of my bill)
Anyways I leave it on just because David Suzuki told me to Flick Off. Spite!

By your parts, itíll be less than that even if you left it on 24/7 like I do.
Must be something else to be $60-70 over.
Did you switch to a new smart meter? Because thats about right then. LOL
