PSU Suggestion for P4 rig

I really don't know much when it comes to lower power PSU's, what psu would be recommended for the P4 rig below. I may be adding another stick of ram and a larger HD but that is about it.

Memory - 1 Stick of PC2700 512mb SpecTEK

Power Supply - Thame Star ATX 400W (Dead Piece of Junk)

Hard Drive - MAXTOR Diamond Max Plus 9 3.5"
- 80Gb ATA/133 HDD

Modem Card PCI - PCtel PCT789T-C

Sound Card PCI - Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE
- Model SB0570

GPU- Abit Siluro GF4 MX-SE, (64 MB) AGP

You really don"t need a more powerfull psu at the moment but since replacement is needed look to the future. Get something 650-850 watts, modular, 2-6 pin pcie, 2-8 pin pcie. No real sence buying a low power psu right now since with your spec"s are saying that eventually the rest of the rig will be upgraded also sometime down the road. As for a brand recommendation OCZ,Silverstone,Corsair.

I am thinking of a 500W Silverstone strider essential for $53 any experience with this psu?

It's a lower-quality unit. I would go with something like a 300-350W Seasonic PSU for that machine.

Agree! For a 5-yr old PC, I wouldn't want to spend over $15 to keep it running.

You could get by on any random 400+ watt psu, but if you want it to last grab the 400cx or a seasonic PSU of 400w or more. Either of those will last you a long time and be fine for any future build that doesn't have a power hungry graphics card.
