Default New PSU?

Well I am transferring my computer into a Lancool K62 and due to the bottom mounted orientation, the OCZ StealthXSteam 600W cables are not long enough to give my CPU power! Nor my optical drive [though not much need for that ;)]

So at this point, should I sell this and pick up a new one [if so, what should I get? want it to last a while and onto my next build if possible]

Or should I buy some psu cable extensions... and which ones would I be looking for?

Thanks!

I would sell it and get something better in sale on any good website. Also look at some with longer cable if you ever go with a full tower or anything like that.

Hmm, so I should get a new psu rather than just psu cable extensions huh. How much do you think I could sell this one for?
And what should I be aiming at? 650? 750?

You can get about 40$ for it and get a TX750 from corsair. Always under 100$ in the week sale at NCIX and it's a killer PSU. To many of us use it in any of our computer.

The GameXstream is a VERY OLD design so stay away from this.

Pick up a Seasonic S12D or M12D series, OCZ Z-series, Corsair TX or HX series, PCP&C Silencer series, Antec Signature, etc.

You can also get a Silverstone Strider series PSU. Again, it's not exactly a new design but those are solid PSUs.

The 700W GameXStream is pretty crappy. It's really a 500W PSU since that's about as much power as it can supply without exceeding the ATX power specification.

Assuming this is for the machine in your signature, 750W would be way overkill for your hardware. I would recommend a 400-500W PSU for your system. Take a look at the Antec NEO ECO 520W, Antec Earthwatts 500W, Seasonic SS-500ET, Corsair HX520, and Corsair VX550, just to give you some examples of quality PSUs in the power range you should be looking at.

No, I don't know about the cable lengths, but it's better to buy a good PSU and some cable extensions than to buy a bad PSU that doesn't need them. In any case, I'm sure at least one of the PSUs I recommended will have long enough cables.
