Psu brands what to look for?

I already have the ocz 850w but it has problems distrbuting power to the gtx280 I had to put adapters all over the rails to get it to fire up. So I was looking at a seasonic s12 series 850w or corsair tx850 replacement or maybe tx950w (eventually vid card will be bumped up to a 5970 or 5870 xfire over time) which would be the better psu? Specs in sig add 2x120mm fans.

Ps; the ocz won't go to waste, daughter will get it.

Not suprised to hear that PSU giving issues.

Either PSU that you have listed will be more than enough for your needs. If you like Modular go with the HX850, if you don't mind a lot of cables the TX950 is good as well. Very solid CWT Designs(IIRC at least) with very good power regulation.

Take a Seasonic X-650 and forget about other PSU's.

Out of the three PSUs you mentioned, the quality in decreasing order would be Seasonic M12D 850W>Corsair TX950>Corsair TX850. Any one of them would be fine for your build, so just go ahead and purchase whichever one you have the budget for.

That would only be a good choice if you have money to burn. In this situation, the price premium of an X-series PSU is not worth it.

You get what you pay for.
My S12 600 is the only PSU that I've ever owned that just continues to give rock solid reliability all the time, without a hiccup. It's a couple years old now. Works perfect. I love it.

I'm biased towards Corsair (I hear they are rebranded seasonics), but the Antec Earthwatts line is also good if you can afford it. Someone I know does builds with OCZ500W's and has had no trouble with them, but I'm paranoid

Some Corsair PSUs are made by Seasonic, but most nowadays are CWT. The Antec Earthwatts line is made by Delta and is very good.
