My System Specs

Default "Screeching PSU"

Hey. Ever Since I switched Cases and put my new PSU in (Seasonic M12D 850W) there has been a screech coming out of it. From about 5-10 feet away it's barely audible (this is when the computer is turned off) but when I put my ear up to it I can definitely hear it. I can turn the PSU switch to off or unplug the cable and it takes 10 seconds for it to stop. Could this be a dying PSU even though it is brand new?

Some coils do this. They're famous especially with nvidia products, their gtx cards are known to whine/buzz or whatever you like to call it. It's extremely annoying, I used to have the same problem on a evga mobo, I kinda covered it up with my fans on max lol. I game with headsets, so it wasn't that bad...

rma would be worth a shot if you don't mind the trouble, maybe call in and ask them if they cover problem like this. It's basically just low quality built, shouldn't malfunction or anything, but don't take my word for it, wait for my responses and see ;)

0o0 is correct. It's coil whine, and it's not harmful but it can be very irritating. Unfortunately there's really nothing you can do short of RMAing the component making the noise and hoping that you get back a replacement that doesn't have the same issue.

Ive seen some antec 350/380s that would do that after they are 1-2 years old. Rma's were accepted.
