Default 700W for SLI of 8800 GTS 512?

I just bought one of those watt meters to see how much power my machines were using while folding. Well, my folder with an E5200, One hard drive, One DVD and 2 8800 GTSs pull approx. 360W. And they recommend that you have a 700W PS to use SLI? They sure are being conservative with their power numbers even with 80% efficiency

you probably only need some decent 500W psu. I would recommend a corsair 550W

Keep in mind that Manufacturer's not only factor in overhead, they also have to consider the quality of the PSU when they make recommendations.

Big difference between a quality 700W and a crap one. A quality 550W would probably have no problems, but a crap 600W might not be able to put out 400W clean.

I think you'll have plenty of head room if you go with Corsair Professional HX650W.

Of course you can't go wrong with this one , but I'm not sure Red need a PSU. Aging of condenser play also, the more the PSU get in age the less efficient it is.
