Default unsure of power needed for next gen upgrade

Id like to upgrade some things on my machine. I'm looking at getting a 5000 series X2 whenever that comes out, or a fermi 395gtx. im currently unsure of the wattage needed and im sure no one knows what the fermi needs to run. ati we can sort of guess that you put two 5870's together and that might be it. Because of that my upgrades are on hold. What is enough to say yea that should do it? Because eventually i will buy two of them and will need some serious power i think.

from guru3d they did a crossfire review of the cards from ati saying you would be using 376watts for 2 cards. mind you it isnt an x2 its still a good guess at what they will need.

im running a core i7, 6gb ram, 2 hdd, 1 dvdrw, fans, etc.

What would be enough to say im confident that this psu will work fine with the x2 when it comes out or the 395gtx when it comes out. then another confidence that 2 of those cards will work.

I'm thinking a 1200watt for 2 cards?? suggestions on psu's to look at, wattage ranges to look at are all appreciated, thanks

Not only for quality or brand. These are all the PSU that can handle what you want to do. Off course all the brand I post here a good and well known for quality and reliability but some out stand. Corsair, Seasonic, PC Power And Cooling, Enermax ( revolution ) are the best of the best. With them, you can't go wrong. Most of these power supply are manufactured by Seasonic or CWT witch are really good PSU maker.

For what it's worth, it seems reasonable to think that whatever Nvidia comes out with won't break the 300W barrier - that's the component power limit for the PCI-E 2.0 spec. So there should be any radical surprises, and the ones listed above should be up to the task (although depending on the rest of the components, you might manage to go over what the sub-1kW units are rated for).

MPG is right. Personally my choice would be the HX850 or the seasonic M12D. Enough power for eveything and incredible build quality.

^^^ $199 After MIR....great price for a great PSU hands down!!! Thing has been solid on my 280 Tri Sli build for months now, along with a shite load of Fans and a moderate I7 OC.
Guys are also running this PSU on Quad Sli 295 Rigs.

NCIX.com - Buy Corsair HX1000W CMPSU-1000HX 1000W ATX 20/24PIN ATX 80A 12V Afc Modular Power Supply W/ 140MM Fan - CMPSU-1000HX In Canada.

Yeah that really is a great deal...think I paid around $240 after MIR 9 months ago! At that price I'd consider getting another one to have as a spare or for a new future build!!
Not to mention the "support Forum" is great as well, right up with thier with the Evga Support forum.

The first HX 1 kW i had required to be RMA'd (still never figured out whether it was the PSU or the Mobo...as I replaced both), but, within minutes of "Posting" my problem on the Corsair Support Forum, i was issued an RMA ticket.
Packed her up and within 10 days recieved a brand new boxed 1kW PSU...no reciepts or proof of purchase required, they also only wanted the PSU, NOT any of the included cables. The replacement had all of the cables etc etc...needless to say I have a crap load of SATA, PCI-E and power cables now

The "issue" I was having was a "Cold Boot" problem, it was either the PSU or the Evga X58 vanilla Mobo...so, stepped up to the Evga Classified Board and RMA'd the PSU....no more cold Boot issue, but obviously my methodology didn't pinpoint the problem specifically!
