Default Corsair Professional HX850 850W Power Supply Review

In the highly competitive power supply market, cheap products are a dime a dozen. For the last few years, Corsair has shown us that well-priced power supplies can still perform above and beyond our expectations on a regular basis. In this review we take a look at their newest foray into the high wattage segment with the HX850; an 80Plus Silver cert... [ Read full article ]

I am sure that all options are on the table for them.

There will be however a big player entering the PSU market very soon so that should get things moving on other fronts as well.

Why would they do that to the pci-e cables? That almost wrecks the whole PSU!

If its not broken, don't mess with it!

Yeah, the doubled-up PCI-E cables remind me of the 8-pin ones on my Ultra. Kind of a pain when it comes to cable-routing. Having that 2800rpm fan in there makes me a little nervous too. I realize that the next step down in YL's 140mm fan line is only 1400rpm, but even still... shouldn't be necessary with that thing's efficiency. I've been looking hard at this thing, but I'm looking for something dead-quiet - this might not quite be what I'm looking for. Can't seem to register with Corsair's forum either.

Still, love the regulation and ripple on this thing! Comparing it with a group of other high-end players just makes it even more impressive.

Sorry if I missed it in the review but is the new line of Corsair's still built by Seasonic? Got to say I recently bought a modular 750W Seasonic which I'm very pleased and I was wondering if it was the same design as the Corsair's?

Great review also SKYMTL! (Wow I just realized what the MTL in your name stands for ... I'm not a proud Quebecer at the moment.... )

That made me laugh so hard in my cubical people looked over my walls to see what was going on. Just picturing it is hilarious. Arnold Schwarzenegger with a bazooka vs. a mexican with a pea shooter duel!

This PSU is friggin' disgusting...

The HX750 and HX850 are actually Channel Well Tech designs. Although I believe they both use the newer DC-DC conversion for supplying the 3.3 and 5V rails.
