A good 750 like Corsair TX is far enough. 1000 will only give you more futureproof build. Also try to look at new Antec 1000 or corsair 850, I have see about 5 HX 1000 dying in a month so they lost all my favor ( for this model ) the other never die:P stick with Antec, Corsair, PC power and cooling.

For dual 295s, I would not go below 1kW.

I don't think 750 watts is enough.

If it ran you would be pushing that power supply hard. Especially in the later years. Power supplies degrade over the years and pushing on a 750w would make it degrade much faster because if your i7 is overclocked, which I recommend for quad SLI, it will break 700watts.

The 1kW is fine, but I won't go below that, especially with a core i7

lol - I would hate to see your electric bill - It seems not very long ago we were all talking about 200-300W PSUs, now it's in the kiloWatts - and soon it will need its own dedicated breaker ! :D

I agree with the points made above - always get a PSU higher rated than the recommended minimum - this way not only you are future proofed (because you WILL eventually need that power) but your PSU will not work hard constantly and degrade faster.

Don't even consider anything less than a 1kW for 2 x 295's.....why?!

I went with a Silverstone Strider ST1500 1500W, with dual 295's. I know that is more then enough....even overkill. It handled the dual 295's with 8800GTX Ultra with i920 D0 oc'd @ 4.850 Ghz.
Not sure about the OP...but I didn't want to have to deal with any issues an underpowered PS would cause.
