Default Corsair HX620W to run 2x GTX 260 Core 216's?

I'm seriously considering SLI'ing my 216's. The thing is, I don't know if i need to invest in a new PSU.

I realize that the HX620W only comes with 2x6+2PCI-E connectors, but i figured i could throw in a molex modular cable and use quick-connects.
Is it safe to run a second GTX 260 using quick-connects? and will the two cards + my rig utilize more than ~650 watts?

My computer as of now:
Q6700 Stock
GTX 260 216
1x 36gb Raptor
1x 640 Caviar Black
2x DVD Drives
Mushkin Redline PC2-8000 at 2.1v

I am, however, going to lap my CPU soon and OCing it to roughly ~3.2 based on FSB o/c.

Thanks in advance!

edit.. I'd use something like this x2 to connect my other GPU:
NCIX.com - Buy Works 2X Female 4 Pin Molex to 1X 6 Pin PCI-E Power Adapter Cable 12IN - CB-PCI-X In Canada.

A lil' bit more than half with everything stock. You can take this as a baseline. Put another 100W for second GTX 260 and if you're not "playing" much Furmark and prime95 you'll be around 370W DC in games.

I'm thinking you'll be fine.... all the evidence I can find points that way.... from various forums:

Quote:
my GTX 260 is powered by a Corsair HX520
About maximal power draw...

Quote:
GTX 260 has a TDP of 182W which is ~15 amps total on 12V (5V current draw should be minimal). Those 15A will be split between the PCIe slot and the 2 connectors, and each source should draw no more than ~6A (75W), so you should be fine as long as you spread the load across your rails.

I'm running mine fine off a of an Antec 500w
Quote:
Seconded! I'm running my C2D @ 3.1ghz + 2GB RAM + GTX 260 OC'd on an Antec Earthwatts 500 with no problems.
And finally, Xbit labs reports the GTX 260 eats up 136W of power, so about 11 amps of draw on the 12 volt line.

This is the system they ran a GTX 280 with

Quote:
AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 CPU (2.6GHz)
EPoX EP9-NPA+ SLI mainboard (Nvidia nForce4 SLI)
PC3200 (2x512MB, 200MHz)
Western Digital Raptor WD360ADFD HDD (36GB, SATA-150, 16MB buffer)
Chieftec ATX-410-212 PSU (410W)
Based on that, plus they claim the 260 eats 136W, you should be able to SLI with a good quality 550W....

More is better, of course.

If you contact corsair they will send you new Cables that have 2 PCI-E power connectors each.
I did this a couple weeks ago for my HX620. Cables took about 2 weeks to arrive, but they gave me a whole bag of cables for free. They even paid for shipping.

yes the 550 will work but put the thing under heavy gaming loads or folding and watch the temps rise on that 550 fast

So? in conclusion should i upgrade my PSU or will it run well? I mean i don't play any power hugging games like Crysis or Fear 2 or anything like that, so I don't expect full load to come soon.
BTW, What do you mean by 2 PCi connectors each? Like one line into the power supply has 2 PCI connectors coming out of it?

The 620 should do just fine. Compare my main rig (i7 oc'ed, dual 260 192s) and while folding (full cpu, both GPUs) the load is 496W from the wall. 620W * 80% efficiency = 496W.

At full load.

Each modular plug into the power supply has the wires doubled up so it will support 2 pci 6pin connectors per modular cable instead of 1. Cosair did it right and ran new conductors for the second connector back to the PSU, so there are more wires in each cable. I hope this makes sense.
