CoolerMaster PSU's

Anyone have any experience with these?

SKYMTL, if you're out there, do you know off hand who their OEM is?

I've been considering one , but am a little sketchy without a little more knowledge.

OEMs for Cooler Master vary from one category to the next. Generally, their higher-end is made by Enhance, mid-tier by Acbel and lower end by Hipro or Seventeam.

Hmmmmm, thats a mixed bag for sure.
Perhaps I'll avoid their lower end for now then.
I was looking at grabbing a 500W , because it was cheaper than most out there.

Thanks for the info,

Cooler Master eXtreme Power 550W Power Supply | PSU

I put one of these in a build about 8 months ago- after about 5 months, the fan bearing started to go (it's noisy for the first minute or so after startup). No other experience than that though.

THanks Bab....I might just stick to what I know then.
I find a few reviews here and there, but not enough for my confidence.
Might go the VX450 , and hope the Corsair is up to the challange of powering a 140W Processor.

I think the xtreme power is their lower end, and probably a bit more sketchy.
The "real power" and "ultimate" is the better stuff but seems to be priced the same as corsair, pc power and cooling etc but seems to be reviewed as inferior ... so you may as well go with what you know.
Having said that I have a Coolermaster IGreen 600w that runs 24/7, its a few years old and has had no issues.

Didn't NCIX just add a whole hockeysock worth of decent mid-priced/lower wattage PSUs to their lineup?

Soultribunal May 15, 2009 10:12 AM

I'll take a look Wilson, I Am aiming for the lowest Reasonable capacity PSU , to shave costs a little.

@ Snoose, yeah which is wierd to me. Considering at least for the higher end units being Enermax (As SKY was kind enough to let me know) that OEM is sharded with a few vendors.

I dunno, I think the Corsair should pull it off, that or get a PC Cooling one.

I have a Coolermaster eXtreme power 600W. Its OK for normal usage, ie. budget builds w/ good video cards, but for high end build, go for something else.
About the sound, it sort of loud, but bearable. (for me atleast)

SKYMTL May 16, 2009 08:38 PM

The CM UCP is their high end stuff now.
