does power supply met vid card requirements I've got a question regarding a power supply I bought today. I need to know if it meets the requirements of the vid card I'm looking at buying. This is the PSU I bought today: Micro Center - LS 550 Watt ATX EPS/12V Power Supply (not that price) and this is the vid card I'm looking at: Newegg.ca - EVGA 896-P3-1258-A1 GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 SSC Edition 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards my biggest concern is the card says it needs: Two 6-pin PCI Express power connectors or four available hard disk power connectors Does that power supply cover that? I'm not real sure what they mean by (1) PCI Express 6+2-pin Power Connector The PSU is going into a Dual Core system with a Sata drive. Figured I better find out now because they said I can return the PSU if it's not the right one. Thanks |
It means the power supply doesn't have the proper connections and you will need to use an adapter. My advice is that if you need to use adapters buy a new power supply. |

So it doesn't have the power connectors needed for this card? |
Should be alright. 6+2 means it's a 6pin PCIe power plug with an additional 2pins that can clip on to give you an 8pin PCIe power plug. |
