Default powering xtc memory cooler

well been a long time lurker on the forums, great info!

but i wanted to overclock my whole system, and i purchased the xtc cooler yesterday.

after clocking my q6700 to 2.9ghz, i notced that the mem cooler fans were running slow, if i put my finger on the fan it stops. so to me its like not getting enuff voltage/current to the fan....i pluged it into my motherboard into the 3 pin fan(xfx 680i sli)....just thinnking any way to get more voltage to it? looked in the bios for info didnt find anything related...kinda a newb to the bios but i understand how to oc things...

worst case scenario was gonna hardwire onto a 4 pin molex and plug into the psu.

What specific header are you plugging it into? Some motherboards allow you to set fan speed in bios for CPU/NB headers, but system headers are generally 100%.

Did you try the one in the center? (Right beside the memory).

It does sound like it's being managed by the bios. You can also try turning off any references to allowing the bios to control temps.

I will tell you, that is VERY odd. Did the cooler come with a 3-pin to Molex adaptor? If so, you can plug it directly into your PSU.

the one on the far right is used by my cpu fan, the one on the bottom center is used by my front case fan.

na it didnt come with a molex conector, may have to get one or modify one..at first it all powered up fine, but then i noticed behind the grid that the fans were moving slowly..

i got a 750 ultra psu....duno what the hell is wrong...it still gets power, the leds still glow, its just at full speed...

Tigerdirect has 3 - 4 pin Adaptors by either ultra or Cables to go for like 2.99 I think. I picked one up for my Dominator Fan.
No need to modify when pocket change will suffice!
