My System Specs

Default PCP&C Silencer 750w

Hi,

I just got some new stuff and SHOULD have it all ready to go tomorrow, anyways..

I want to know if the silencer 750w can handle this load..

I want to buy another 9800gtx since I figure that will be my best money spent since I already have one. I don't think a GTX260 for $300 is worth it compared to 2x9800gtx in SLI... the 9800's will be faster and can be had for about $200 now. So since I have one already, I think this is definitely my best option.

Will the silencer take all that?

i7 920 OC to 3.8-4.0 ghz (high as I can go) ~ 150w?
8x120mm and 1 200mm case fans at 1500 rpm ~ 20w
9800gtx full load 245w each = 490w
3 HDD at ~15w = 45w
1 DVD drive (wattage not sure ~10w?)

All of this = 715w... Getting close..

Will all of this be safe with the silencer? I know it's a solid PSU and has a max wattage of 825w but I want to be safe here, and I'm probably missing other wattages like whatever the motherboard and sound card takes.. It says it's certified for 2x8800gtx and I figure they take about the same amount of power as the 9800gtx?

Also, one last question that I think I know the answer to but it doesn't hurt to ask... The 9800GTX is compatible with the 9800GTX+ in SLI, right?

Thanks.

PC P&C 750W ran my GTX 280 SLI with out a hitch....the 9800GTX's are a lot less power consumption.

Ok thanks guys. I have my 9800gtx right now OC to match the gtx+, and will keep it that way if I can.

Sounds like it's going to work! Yay!

There's no way the 9800GTX pulls anywhere near 245W. Heck, even the GTX280 is hard-pressed to pull that off. In SLI, I believe the 9800GTX+ will downclock slightly to match the 9800GTX.

In Sky's review it pulled 248w for the whole system, and that's with a QX9770@3.852GHz...EVGA 9800 GTX+ 512MB Video Card Review

There has be a little sacrifice with having an 80mm fan in PSU, my solution just turn the speakers up problem solved.

Nonetheless you have a great PSU.
