Default Request: Modular PSU Recommendations

Hi, just finalizing the last bits while NCIX processes the other parts of my order - price matching takes some time.

I am looking for a PSU with modular cables and am always looking for other opinions. Current projected hardware setup and goals:

Processor: E6600 (BX80557E6600)
RAM: OCZ NVIDIA SLI Ready XTC PC2-8500 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-1066(OCZ2N1066SR2GK)
Mainboard: EVGA nForce 680i SLI 775 A1 Version (122-CK-NF68-A1)
Video: EVGA nVidia 8800 GTX (768-P2-N831-AR)

Shooting for a 3.4 and later higher E6600 overclock so scalability is important. Unlikely to play with the video card although I may wish to duplicate the pre-overclocked cards EVGA offers up in the future. RAM will likely be downclocked although I doubt it has a significant effect on the potency of the power supply needed.

From what I've read, the wattage is less important than the stability of the voltage of the device. I've always had a good experience with Enermax and I've read that OCZ produces decent supplies as well (but they generally don't have modular cabling). I'm currently working on the assumption that 700 watts is good for my goals.

Thanks for your wisdom. If you could explain the reasoning behind your suggestions that would be helpful as well!

I would look at one of three units:

This one:

I reviewed it here: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/hardw...ly-review.html

Or this one:

i would also look into units from Seasonic, Tagan and PC & C. I also love my Antec Neo HE to bits, but it's only 500 watts so it may not be enough for your system.

Tagan is basically the same thing as the Mushkin units but they are quite a bit more expensive.

Ended up going with the Mushkin kit. It worked out very nicely (although the black gloss paint is a fingerprint magnet). Thanks a bunch. :)

[H] Enthusiast - Corsair HX620 620w Power Supply

This is pretty much one of the best modular PSU's out there for good price.

My System Specs

Default

Booyeah for overkill! Silverstone ST1000 1000w Modular power supply with 135mm Fan and support for Quad SLI and more.
Got it at NCIX on Special:
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...e%20Technology
It's a lil more expensive now, but when it drops below 250$ its tough to find a cheaper and more reliable 1000w psu for future upgrades.
