Default Lasers aren't cool

Nothing but trouble with my two laser mice, Gigabyte Ghost and an Microsoft ARC. I have a cheap ass Nexxtech I2 optical that tracks perfectly. My laser mice jump all over the place and frequently stop and go as they please. What's up with that?

I'm thinking of getting a Death Adder 2013 optical and write off laser tech altogether.

Thanks for the Q "tip". I'll have to try that.

I have used various pads including generic black cloth, an Asus (steel series?) Diablo III red/black. I am currently using the pad that came with my Starcraft 2 game. It is multi coloured image from light to dark.

For laser I find a hard solid color surface works best for them.

As above. I'm using a three dollar ceramic bathroom tile. Buttery smooth and tracks perfectly.

I'm using a Razer Destructor Pad.

With my RAT 7

When it goes wonky pull out my can of air and its back to as good as new.
More suseptable to dust than my old Death Adder

If it's jumping round look for a hair or tiny bit of fluff at the sensor / on the pad, they don't like them.

I would say go for the Death Adder if the laser are giving you problems. I have the 3.5g version and I picked it because I liked the looks and it felt comfortable. I don't know how many years I have had it but I don't feel any reason to upgrade. 3500 dpi is enough for me but then I don't play very many fps.

My RAT 7 drove me crazy when it gone wonky in a middle of FPS firefights. Switched to a G9X and couldn't be happier. (The pad is a Steel Series QCK Heavy)
