I bought a refrubished HP Deskjet F4440 InkJet MFC / All-In-One Color Printer at newegg for $45 and it does everthing I wanted it to do .It looked brand new no scathes ,it came with two full ink cartridges instaed of starter cartridges like some do.It came with all the cables that is needed .Installs windows 7 64bit drivers just fine.I like how you can just push it against the wall and the paper loads in front and finishes in front. It scans perfect and copies perfect with a push of a button or you can go though the software if you want to edit something. The ink cartridges are not as high as many make them out to be.You can find them for as low as $10

looking at the pictures of laser printers on newegg they all look way too big for what I want.

You have a point if ink dries out, I'll hardly ever use the printer so I don't want to spend any amount...I don't know what to do. I only know 2 or 3 people with a printer and they are not close by. I'll probably just put it off for now, no big deal.

what about this little guy from NCIX?

Samsung ML-1675 Laser Printer 17PPM 1200DPI 8MB USB2.0
$39 on sale right now.
I bought it a few weeks go when it was on for $39 as well.
Its a great little laser printer not much bigger than a large shoebox.

Go laser. I have an old HP LaserJet 4P I acquired that won't quit after 18 years and 45000 pages. It's only 4 pages a minute, but it's fine for the small amount of printing that I do.

For printing courier waybills, laser is a must.

That'd be my recommendation... they might look big in the pics, but they're no bigger than a standard MFP.

Quite frankly.... if you pick up one of those, and don't do that much printing, it'll still be putting out relatively clean text pages 3 - 4 years from now without having to replace the toner cartridge.... considering many ink carts come with enforced TX dates you'd probably have $150+ invested in ink carts by then even if they don't dry out.

sswilson,

Thats pretty much the reason I bought mine. I was buying cheap AIO printers for $30 every year as I print so seldom I could never warrant spending $50 on ink for a $30 printer so I'd just buy another $30 printer. A $40 laser printer will last me atleast 3 or 4 years before I'll have to replace the cartridge, and if its more than $40, I'll just buy another printer. Take that environment.

Heh... my little samsung is a networked duplex model so it's worth (IMO) the $60 for a 1500 sheet replacement toner.

I'm still on my first toner though... currently at 2K+ pages printed with 16% toner left after 3 years of use.... :)

For the cost the DJ1000 will do what you need it to do, and theyre usually $20 on sale. If you can get a laser on sale that would work out better though as toner cartridges do not dry up like ink, although most ink cartridges do have a warranty on them even if they dry out during the warranty period.

I don't know if OP already bought a printer but have you considered this?
