Razer BlackWidow Ultimate & Imperator are they good?
So in the next coming weeks I'm thinking of upgrading my current mouse and keyboard which are the Logitech Illuminated keyboard and G500 mouse. I really like both and have had them for over 2 years and they're starting to show their wear. I'm thinking of getting the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate and the Imperator mouse. Has anyone had experience with these? Do you like them? How good is the workmanship of them?

I have the Razer Blackwidow, not ultimate though, and it's decent. Workmanship isn't the best (my ASDWQE keys are almost completely faded) but it's not like they actually make the switches. I also have a Steelseries 6gv2 but I replaced it with the Blackwidow because I didn't like the Cherry Black MX switches or the key layout (it has the full sized enter key), it felt extremely solid though.

Yes they are wonderful.

I own both now for over a year. Top notch workmanship, best I have used.

I have the Imperator 2012, it's a great mouse. Definitely recommend it.

I can't speak for those specific products but I have a lycosa that randomly stops working all the time and razer won't replace it because it is still "functional". Not very functional when you are stuck running backwards in the middle of a BF3 game for 10 minutes.

Look into Corsair's new Vengeance gaming peripherals. They seem to be really good.

You won't know until you try. I prefer the vertical rise on Logitech gaming mice to the lower Razer mice.

What do you guys think about the Battlefield 3 Edition Razer keyboard. I was thinking of picking that up, but in ain't cheap. Live the orange LED's.

The Black Widow will be alright if you must have something backlit, but don't expect great quality. If you don't need the the ligthing I'd personally go for one of the Corsair boards or better yet, a Filco once NCIX carries them. Even the Steelseries keyboards are great in terms of quality other than the keycaps. It depends on what features you want, the switches you prefer and if you like the looks.

since i actually own the black widow ultimate, i'd be more than happy to comment on it. this is also coming from someone who loves and owns a ton of corsair products.

individually back lit laser etched keys. awesome.

cherry blue switches. the ultimate edition's switches are selected for their tactile uniformity. the regular black widow's keys are not. every key has the exact same feel. awesome. i compared the razer blackwidow ultimate to the corsair k60 in the store and i liked the tactile feel of the razer better. the k60 seemed cheap in comparison.

weight. the thing is really heavy. you could seriously hurt somebody if you hit them in the face with this thing.

quality. i've had this thing for 4 months. perfect so far.

oh, and did i mention. you can actually type on this thing. the blue switches make an awesome crunching sound when your pounding away. i personally love it. not good if your trying to be quiet.
