What is a decent reliable Laser Printer that wont die in a year like my samsung CLP310 piece of junk? Imaging unit went kaput, and of course its worth more then I paid for the gd printer...Color option is whatever. Price/performance is better, and parts (including toner) being cheap is a want too.

My brother and I have had good luck with our Samsung lasers. I got my 1865 wifi laser for $40. It's black and white. If you don't need color you can save a lot of money.

And at $40, I don't care much if it doesn't last 10 years

I'm a huge fan of Brother printers. I'd skip out on colour printers though. Stick to b/w. I recommend the brother 2270, or the 7065DN if you need scanning and such.

I did an analysis of black and white laser printers awhile back and if you use these printers they have the lowest consumable use for 100,000 pages. Use the high yield toner cartridge TN-650 (8000 page $120 retail $88 online) and DR250 drum (25000 page duty $150 retail $110 online). It will cost you $2100 at retail prices and $1540 if you shop around for 100,000 pages. HP Samsung and Canon are anywhere from $2400-4000 in consumables over the same use period.

The 8890 is the only one that duplex prints AND duplex scans AND duplex copies AND duplex fax. All use the same toner and drum as above.

The HL-2240 and HL-2270 use a smaller "high" toner capacity TN-450 (2600 page yield for $70) and slower print engine. Spend a little more and get the 5300 series and you will save money in the end and it will be faster.

I had an HP Color Laserjet and that think was big, slow, noisey, piece of junk from the day I got it. I used to be a big HP laserjet fan, but Brother printers are better and cheaper.

having had several printers from different makers over the years that....nicely put....were subpar, i bought a Dell 948 which i've used a lot with no problem whatsoever. i would recommend the Dell V715w all-in-one wireless. right now it's on for 129.00 reg 189.00.

Dell is rebranded Lex-crap.. err i mean Lexmark. The printers sell for cheap so Dell can hose you on the consumables. and Lexmark quality is .. um.. subpar.

i knew i would catch some flack...err...crap when i recommended the aformentioned but i can only go by my personal experience. as far as the comsumables go...and i agree that they hose you...I've purchased the consumables at staples and elsewhere. i bought mine well over 4 years ago and have no complaints. it was well worth the price for me....under 100.00....but that's me.

I have the same printer and i had it for about 3 months now. Granted i dont print much, but im very happy with the printer. Although i caution using the printer software to connect wirelessly. Pain in the ass to set up but once its set up - works quite well and reliably.
