Default USB Mouse/Keyboard

If I just finished assembling a computer and I want to install my OS, would I be able to connect and use an USB mouse/keyboard to configure my BIOS? Or can I only use PS/2 mouse/keyboard?

Most new motherboards natively recognize USB keyboards and mice.
