Cooler Master Storm Sirus 5.1 Headset Review Comment Thread

I received my CMs and had a chance to game with them for a few hours. The CM StormSirus 5.1s are NOT the ones that beat Psyko, but I think these things are great. I'm not a fan of USB headphones, but the CMs are as good as you can get. In my opinion. I think they are even better than my Tritton HDa and Roccat Kave sets and they are both straight 5.1 analog headphones. I don't know who or when another manufacturer will build a set better than Psyko,but CM is getting close. For the price, [$109 at new egg] you won't find anything better in a USB surround headphone. The CMs are going to my wife. Very comfortable and light for long gaming sessions.

Did you know that you can also use the CMs as analog? It works better if you have a great sound card.

I know they are 5.1 analog. I game with analog ONLY. The problem with running the Sirus with analog,is that you can't use the Volume control pod etc. It only works with the USB method. No way to increase or decrease volume etc.,unless you have a volume control on your keyboard. I am still on my Carbon's. Still the best in my opinion. However,there is a new set from Razer about to hit the stores. Razer Tiamat 7.1 ANALOG headphones. Look pretty interesting. I will buy that set also. If they are better than Psyko,I will be the first to say so. I really doubt it,but I will find out.

I won this headset and while I had some user related problems at first, I was really impressed by the sound quality over my other basic headphones. I really like them even if they are considerably heavier(even tho its not super heavy) than my previous set. The main disadvantage for me is that I get tired because of my glasses when wearing for long periods of time. Its not unbearable, I just notice it when I remove them.

I am far from being a sound specialist, but I prefer to listen to music using those headphones rather than my speakers. I am using the USB connections since I only have onboard sound and find it to be more than enough.
