I do not recommend Razer

I've been a long time fan of Logitech but was inspired to try out the Razer line of keyboards. My first horrible experience was the Lycosa that has a horrible response time. I don't know why I did it but I ended up trying another Razer product, the Black Widow Utimate...it's and ultimate failure. Right out of the box, the NUMBER 1 key got stuck, the keys are not removable at all...however, I love mechanical keyboards and did not mind the LOUD clicking sounds it has.

Warranty

Try going to there website and navigating to a warranty contact person, I could not find a phone number at all! . Logitech has incredible customer service, a phone number on there website and they will send you a replacement without the fuss of sending the older unit back.

Next time....LOGITECH = CUSTOMER SERVICE.

FYI: Lycosa is the product, Razer is the manufacturer. Razer Lycosa and Razer Black Widow.

Just go to their Support page and fill out the necessary information: Razer Support They reply fairly quickly and you should be able to get it RMA'd.

Most gamers (I'd say) don't like sitting on hold on the phone for hours on end and prefer online support. Razer caters to a niche market, not the general public like Logitech does. Likewise, Razer is a far smaller company in comparison and can't afford unnecessary overhead of support teams sitting on call 24/7.

But if it broke out of the box, you can just return it at the store you bought it from.

Something tells me this is a case of PEBKAC (literally)

Also, should realize that sh*t happens, and no manufacturer has 0% DOA rates. I personally would recommend the black widow for its value as a mechanical keyboard.

I've had warranty support with razer a handful of times, and every time it has been just as good as Logitech

? Not. Google and there are issues. I'm going to exchange it and give it another go.

I'm very happy with my Razer Naga and my Razer Lycosa. Before havin this combo I had a Logitech combo. I didn't had anything against logictech, I was just feeling like trying something else.

I'm planning to change my headset in some weeks and looking forward to buy a Razer product again.

I used to have Logitech mx518, and that thing still works great...now resides with my wife's comp. Presently, using Razer Imperator with latest firmware update and no problem for about a year or so.

On a side note, I been using a SteelSeries Merc Stealth keyboard for 2 years and it's been great since day 1.

I am giving some thought over getting a mechanical keyboard (the blackwidow being 1). Are the Razer keycaps known to wear out quickly?

I don't think I could ever stray away from Logitech :) There stuff is just good, and the customer service ... can't argue with that. The Razer stuff looks good, and I have two of their higher end mouse pads, and love those, but I won't be changing my mice/keyboards any time soon (MX Revolution/G700-G15).
