The touch keys and screens at Canadian Tire Steels Plant were years old when I started and still going strong. Then again, we only used Ammonia D to clean them so who knows.
Regular Keys and such died in 6 months.
If done right it works for a long time. But the good thing about this type of keyboard is nothing can get in between the keys and stay. Again, to me in makes no difference. I want my mechanical Keys still.
True about Kinect though.
