Just saw an ad for lexmark printers which promoted the fact that some of their lines have high yield (500 sheet) black carts for $4.99. So far (quick look), the one I've come up with is this model which is discontinued.....

Looks like it might only be on their higher end business MFPs, but it's certainly a move in the right direction if we can convince other printer manufacturers to go the same route.
Anybody else heard anything on this? From the google search I did, it appears that this has been around since last spring... seems strange that I didn't hear anything about it.
edit: Here's one that doesn't appear to be EOL.....
