Default Are blu-ray drives region free?

As the title says are they region free generally? For my HTPC build I want to be able to play all of my old dvd collection as well and I have alot of dvd's that are pal region and such, some are ntsc some are pal just the way I went about collecting them. I was sorta looking at this for a drive or the samsung or LG on sale this week at ncix.

NCIX.com - Buy Samsung SH-B083L 8X BLU-RAY BD-ROM & DVD Writer Combo Drive SATA 2MB Retail Box - SH-B083L/RSBP In Canada.

NCIX.com - Buy Samsung SH-B123L 12X BD-ROM & DVD Burner Combo Internal SATA W/ Power DVD Software - SH-B123L/RSBP In Canada.

NCIX.com - Buy LG CH10LS20 Bluray Reader & DVD Writer Combo Drive 10X BD-ROM 16X DVD-RW Lightscribe SATA Retail Box - CH10LS20.AVBR10B In Canada.

So will these work or what? Thanks again.

Nope. However I do believe AnyDVD can circumvent regions if you want to spring for the software. It is even 20% off at the moment.

Well that sorta sucks, I know my current DVD drives I have can play PAL just fine so maybe I'll end up buying another DVD/CD drive along with my blu-ray drive :( Really wanted to use that extra 5.25 slot for a hard drive though damn.

This is exactly why I love cases with toooons of bays and room! Yet people(others, not you Blu) still have to ask why!

I sorta wanted to buy this at first,
Newegg.ca - Sunbeam Transparent Clear Acrylic ACHT-T ATX Media Center / HTPC Case
but I read some reviews on the net about how easy it cracked and such so I just played it safe and thought It would be ok to loose a couple drive slots. Really sucks though I see a $50 dollar MIR for the case now! Dang!

Probably like the DVDs, only the adult movies might be region free.
