Take a few things into consideration.

1) Most printers you buy from a store like staples come with a start cartridge which are hardly ever as big or useful as a new cartridge.
2) Printer ink is ALWAYS expensive no matter what.
3) Refilling = Bad idea

In relation to the toner and other consumables definitely shop around locally and online.

The cost for for the same brand of toner cartridges can vary by a surprising amount.

Direct Canada - Brother TN-650 $90.80
Staples -
Brother TN-650 $139.86

I currently have a severe dislike for HP because of a HP ink hog that I had about 4yrs ago (cleaning cycle every time it was powered up). In addition, my workplace had a HP color laser that was a POS.

I did have respect for HP monochrome laser printers meant for heavy office work. I wished that my dept. had one of the HP laser printers (>$900) that the accounting dept. had.
