Default How would you rate these monitor brands?

Samsung
Acer
Phillips
BenQ
Asus
LG
ViewSonic
HP

My very first monitor was a BenQ. It was one of the "normal" (read: bulky) monitors and it only lasted about 4 years. Right now I have a Samsung Syncmaster 2043SW LCD and it's still working great after a year. Later on I plan to buy a better monitor as the one I have doesn't support resolutions higher than 1600x900 (which isn't much of a good thing for a gamer).

What do you guys think about these specific monitor brands? Input would be great for when I'm ready to get a new monitor.

If image quality and price is important I would vouch for DELL with their IPS monitors (not the cheap models).
Have two of those and no single issue so far. 2007WFP (4 years old) and 2209WA (1 year old)

Any of those can be good. It all comes down to the panels they are using which can sometimes be a game of Russian Roulette.

Samsung : Good in everything
Acer : Medium but not worth it
Phillips : Good in High end monitor so not worth it for normal use
BenQ : Medium but still not surprised by build quality
Asus : Good quality , good price, image and colour are a bit off the track but they are ok for most user
LG : Like samsung good in everything you want
ViewSonic : No more the CRTday for them. Correct but not worth it
HP: Glassy...for me it's a big cancel and I find them a bit over priced, I would get a dell instead.

And, you forget dell:P Their low end computer suck but their screen are some of the best. Take a look at it to!

Personally I won't be buying LG anytime soon. Have a LG HDTV here with both rear HDMI ports dead. The TV has it's version of a BSOD (and yes, it is blue) when you plug anything into those ports. Only the side HDMI works.

Have two Samsung LCDs running strong, along with a Viewsonic and 3 Dells. All solid. I have an Acer myself, which has been good so far. First was a dud though.

I think everything is hit-n-miss though. There's always lemons in any production run.

Jd have you ever try contacting LG? If their warranty on TV is the same that they have on computer screen they will replace it. They even replace phys dmg for computer screen.
