My System Specs

Default Post your PCIe expansion card

We've had PCIe expansion card slots on our new motherboards for a couple of years now, and the standard (at least on intel chipset boards) seems to be moving to less standard PCI card slots to make room for more PCIe slots.

Has anybody actually made good use of these slots, or is this the same old story of chipset/motherboard manufacturers moving ahead with something that that the third party add-on card manufacturers are not interested in adopting?

I think I asked about this a while ago, but wanted to test the waters again to see if there is something I'm missing in the current market.

To date, the only PCIe add-on card I've seen available that might actually make it into somebody's system has been a fairly high end dual tuner tv card.

The increased bandwidth offered by PCIe over PCI suggests that it would offer benefits to things like tv or sound cards, but is anybody really using it, or are we just losing functionality by having only 2 PCI slots in order to make room for 3 PCIe that we won't be using for several years?
