Default customising keyboard buttons

Hello,
I'm looking for a nice clean typing keyboard with buttons that I can customize to launch specific folders and programs, even files that are being worked on. I like to keep a clean desktop and am not a fan of "point and click" so this would help. any ideas???
cheers, ben

i would think you should be looking for software and get whatever keyboard you want. there are a million 'launcher' apps out there that you can define key strokes combos to open programs. some programs even tie launcher, macros, and text insert into one. HTH

If you intend to use a "launcher app" and can do it with just the standard F keys, I cannot stress enough how much I love my enermax keyboard. (Mini review in peripherals thread).

I have friends that swear by this:
Das Keyboard - The Blank Keyboard for Demanding Users.

It is not for everyone, but is said to be _really_ _really_ nice.

Personally it is too big and bulky for me, there is too much wasted space. I also like having labelled keys for when gaming and typing alike.. Not to mention when generating less common characters.

Default good choices

that das keyboard looks good and good size, i like the keys, reminds me of the early 1990 apples and bbcs. also i need a big keyboard as i cannot work with laptop keyboards at all...way too small. But im not sure about going blank yet?..i looked at SSwilsons earlier when it was posted...very nice. Elegant and simple! but hopefully its also quite big as my hands are just too big for smaller keypads. Ill look into its dimensions anyway as i love the look...and will work on some FREEware for key stroke productivity...cheers

The enermax Aurora is a full sized motherboard.

I just did a quick measurement against an older IBM style 104 key keyboard and the key placement is exactly the same distance so you won't feel cramped using it.

The only issue I could see is that the "throw" isn't as long as it is on one of the old IBM monsters but I prefer that feel. (Kinda like when we moved from manual to electric typewriters.... took a while for us to learn not to attempt to drive the keys through to the desktop... :) ).
